Hey guys. I need some advice if you've got some time and cop-on to share.

I'm a girl in her mid 20s and I've been single now for two years. My last serious relationship threw me into a bit of a tailspin and since then I've unequivocally gone off the rails. I'm basically miserable, lonely and not able to handle anything intense (been through a few short-lived intense relationships during the interim that haven't helped my sanity).. but I really feel I'd be much better able to cope with life if I had a decent man to help keep me on the straight and narrow. Cue the lovely guy who's far more interested in me than I am in him. He's everything your mother would want for you, but I could take him or leave him.
I haven't had anybody this nice been so keen on me before, but things are definately not entirely behind me - I don't know if I'll ever be able to let go of the past. So I'm left feeling very ambiguous about what I should do.
    Any thoughts?

If you don't feel it now, you'll probably not feel it in the future. It will be better for you if you wait for the man you feel it for. It's better for this guy too.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

from reading your post i have a few points to make

    1. a partner should not be a necessary prop for living a fullfilled life.

    2. you need to be able to love yourself and be happy in yourself before you can love someone else.

    3. this guy is obviously not for you, he wont fill the void left by your ex

    4. stop thinking that the route to your happiness lies in the arms of a good man, because the route to happiness is in your own hands

i dont mean to come across as condescending or a know it all but i found myself in a similar situation to you a couple of years ago and these points were made to me, and they really helped.
