    Hello,

I have a sky multiroom sub. Today, one of the tv's is showing a "No satellite signal 29" , while the other one is perfect. Would I be right in thinking that because one TV is working that the dish is not out of alignment. Would anyone have any idea if this is a DIY fix or do i need to call an engineer? I have tried the usual stuff, resetting the box, removing the cable from the back of the box and refiiting it, removing the card and cleaning the gold contacts etc.

    Thanks.

the dish is find id say

maybe because of the terrible wearther recently the cable on the lnb could be out of place

    or

maybe swap the boxes and if it doesnt work then

something could be wrong with the box

    Hello,

A quick update on my problem. Lets say Room 1 is the room with no signal. This has a regular sky box (Amstrad 550). Room 2 has a Sky+ box, which works perfectly. I swapped the boxes around and now am more confused! The regular sky box does not work in Room 2, (does it matter which of the 2 leads I connect? I tried both). The problem now is that the Sky+ box does not work in Room 1 either. Could both the regular box and something else (cable, LNB) go at the same time? It seems unlikely. Any further help would be great, although i think I will have to call someone out in the next few days!

    Thanks.

If the LNB cable has a short-circuit, it may damage any box that you connect to it.
I recommend as a minimum you check the 'F' connector.

    Hello,

Thanks Sam Radford for the reply. The Sky+ box is working alright in it's original location again. I'll check the f-connector just to be sure. If I test a substitute box belonging to someone else in place of my own, does it need the original card in it to detect a satellite signal?

    Thanks.

No it doesn't need any card to receive Free To Air programmes such as BBC, Sky News.

    Hello,

Another Bulletin! I substituted a regular sky box in place of my own, and it works fine. I guess my 2 year old amstrad box is shot! :(

    (1) Is it worth trying to get a box repaired?

    (2) Any chance of sky replacing box (it's out of warranty, but only 2 years old)

    (3) How much for a new box?

Thanks to all for the help so far
