The middle east ? I would say you are going to need a bigger dish. 60cm does the sky astra platform that is pointed at us but a mid east sat is obviously not going to be so you are going to need a bigger dish. There is some mid east tv available in the UK and france so it should be possible.

most comes in from 26east satellite on a 1.1m dish here. But bad weather stops play on some transponders (Especially my fav transponder 11.919 MBC) Have a look on the foriegn satellite board.

    ME needs 110cm min.

60cm is only good for UK beamed Satellite, i.e. Sky/Freesat.

The B&Q €63 Philex package is similar and better value. (60cm Dish). Its receiver works well on 110cm Motorised system USALS as it has a dedicated "Sat" button to swap between satellites and Blind Scan is better than FortecStar Beta.

However if you want a "PayTV" package you need receiver with a CI slot for a CAM and the CAM or else the correct embedded CAM and also a suitable viewing card/subscription. There is quite a lot Free To Air though (FTA).

It assumes you have ether a WS TV that can't do 4:3 or a 4:3 that can't do Animorphic. So no RAW o/p like Sky Box for TVs that do their own thing. It does do the Letterboxing or Crop (with rescaling in both) well on 4:3 or WS 16:9 TVs for the other mode.

For Middle East stuff you may need 1.1m in Dublin and as much as 1.8m or more in West. Many ME satellites have beams that can't be received at all, so do check www.lyngsat.com footprints before buying a system.

Also larger dishes are MUCH harder to align. A professional meter and experience recommended above 1m.

About €64 Euro in Limerick. €63 something inc Ireland's higher 21% VAT.

60cm dish. Receiver does Diseqc, USALS, Blindscan.
Better than Fortec Star Beta or Lidl SL65
    Also Games.

Serial port for Firmware/channel editing, but I've not found or tested SW for it.

    One minor niggle for me:
Fixed format for 16:9 LCD or 4:3 CRT, with good rescale crop or windowbox/letterbox. No raw mode for the very few displays with true native 16:9 AND 4:3.
