young cancer support

    Hi guys,

I was diagnosed with Leukemia a few months back and have been in hospital
    (in and out) since then.

At the time I felt like I fell between the cracks age-wise. Looking around me
most people in here are 60+/70+ and I'm way too old for a children's
    hospital or that.

I was just wondering are they other "young adults" around
suffering from cancer and do you think that there would be a need for
a kind of support group aimed specifically at this demographic?

    Thanks.

I know how you feel. I am 42 and I was called "Son" by all of the other cancer patients.

The only place I have seen good support for young cancer patients is on a site called planetcancer. It is a site hosted and run by young people who all have cancer.

I had oesophageal cancer 20 months ago today and am only 34 now. Yes, I found it difficult as everone else is a lot older. When I suggested on a message board that I wanted kids they were horrified...I did find a chemo buddy on boards who was only 40 and we became great friends.

I hope that you get better soon<

    hugs!

    Thanks Cathy.

It's just in my own situation I felt super isolated until I met this other
guy around my age (23) with a similar illness and just meeting him
lessened that feeling of isolation no end.

I just thought that if that the same "relief" could be shared with other
people it could only be a good thing. Something for me to work on when
    I get better I guess!
