I bought a Philips 32" TV, October '07 (i.e. a few weeks out of warranty) it has a plasma screen which my nephew threw a sharp object at. Now the screen has a pernament multicoloured 10 inch rainbow running down the entire screen - can this be fixed?

If a hard object strikes the screen, hundreds of individual gas-filled tubes instantly lose their ability to glow. Replacing all of those elements is a time-consuming and expensive process, if it can be done at all.

All plasmas can be fixed. The problem is that most repair costs are going to be close to (or higher than) what it would cost to replace the item.

Sorry, my physic powers were on the fritz when i originally posted
Of course i should have known the kids parent was recently unemployed

    Do you like our planet?
bit cold this time of year i know but it gets nicer towards the summer!

U will try and fix it, it will cost a bundle, it will not be same, u will end up getting new one anyway
it was their kid, get them to pay, better now than later as stuff should be really cheap in the sales this time
Or at least get them to agree to pay when back at work

Unless you have so much money that it doesnt matter, but if that is the case why post in first place?
