Does anyone have any information on the reliability of 3 cookers that I am looking at with a view to buying 1. I know that the prices are quite varied but I would like to hear from anyone who might have any of the following products. Smeg A5-6 - 150cm double oven with gas burners, Britannia Sigma 150cm double oven with gas burners or the semi professional Godin Souveraine 1400 - double ovens with gas range. Many thanks

We have the Smeg (double oven range style hob) but I could not recommend them as a brand - having also had a smeg dishwasher - their after sales service is not good. We have struggled to get their designated repair person (when the products were within warranty), waited ages for parts, and when they were out of warranty were given a clear message from their Irish importers that service isn't their priority. Whatever about the dishwasher, a cooker is something you need fixed fast if it goes!

Many thanks for your input, Muckety! Sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with your Smeg. I am seriously considering going to France to buy the Godin as it will cost almost 1/2 of what it costs in ireland. It is a professional oven designed for professionals so I am hoping it lives up to its ratings. I host retreat weekends at my home and need to have a reliable appliance to cook with...
