Transferring data from external HD - Help!

Firstly a word of thanks to the persons who contributed to the 'clicking hard drive' thread. My HD had been clicking for quite some time before I realised it was bad thing (and backed up!) thanks to the thread.

As you might have guessed I had a clicking HD in my 9 month old 2.4ghz MacBook. The HD was replaced with a new one but unfortunately the tech was unable to save or transfer any of the data on the old one. I had however backed up the old clicking HD on my own external HD.

I have plugged in my external HD and run Time Machine. I clicked on the last date I backed up and clicked restore. A window came up saying it was copying data and it ran for about three or four hours. I can now open a 'Macintosh HD' file when the external HD is connected and I can see all my old apps and files etc.

My questions is; how do I restore my MacBook to how it was before the HD was replaced? Is there any application I can run that will replace all the files on the new HD with the files from my external HD, or does this have to be done manually - file by file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you startup from your leopard install cd, theres an option to restore the old backup. Google the steps if your not quite sure.

To restore from the Time Machine backup simply boot from the Leopard disc as already suggested. Go to the Utilities menu and select the "Restore System from Backup" item then select the backup snapshot to restore. Depending on the size of the volume to be restored it could take a while.

It worked perfectly, normal service resumed.

    Thanks.
