I have a freeview box if its the same thing and no dont need a phone line.

Doesnt look like it,and frankly I'd be surprised as this is a "no contract" service and updates are provided via the transponder

No. The sky boxes don't require phonelines either, only the sky legal contracts create that requirement. You can use a sky+ box as a free-to-air box without a line quite happily.
