An officer who admitted having sex while on duty has been jailed for four months. Skip related content

Gary Bayldon, 48, also confessed to propositioning another woman while on the job for Hampshire Constabulary.

The PC, who has since quit his post, pleaded guilty to three counts of wilful misconduct in public office.

Kingston Crown Court heard that Bayldon, from Newport on the Isle of Wight, began relationships with two women he met while attending incidents at their homes.

The officer, who was married at the time, met 34-year-old community care worker Donna Cacutt after she called police to her home when a man tried to take one of her children down the road.

Bayldon began phoning the woman and two started seeing each other soon after.

Prosecutor Barry Gregory told the court: "In her words they started seeing each other quite regularly but never when he was off duty, always when he was on duty on the late shift.

"He would visit her at her home, she would make him dinner and then they would have sex afterwards."

After the relationship broke down, Bayldon met a second woman, mother-of-two Suzanne Dunkling, 37, after being called out to a domestic incident involving her boyfriend in late 2005.

She was arrested and taken to the police station, where Bayldon caressed her hands while taking her fingerprints, the court heard.

"He confessed to her 'I keep getting it wrong so I can keep touching you'," Mr Gregory said.

The PC then drove the woman home, during which he invited her to a forest "for a chat".

The prosecutor told the court she refused, because because she knew he wanted her to go there for sex.

Michael Boardman, defending, said Bayldon visited Miss Cacutt during permitted dinner breaks and had not ignored his duties, stating that he had his radio on and was able to answer any calls.

But judge Charles Tilling rejected the argument: "I am afraid it must be made clear that those who have power also have great responsibilities.

"You as a police officer have very considerable power and the respect of the community you serve in. People look up to you. You abused that trust."

In fairness these people are mature adults and knew what they were getting into (unless there is something the article isn't telling us).
