Ok all you hotshots out there, especially those of you who post pictures of lots of ducks after an evenings shooting (smell that envy).....I'm looking for some feathers.

Specifically the breast feathers from a Mallard Drake. I want them for fly tying so if anyone has some drakes hanging up ready for plucking, keep me the feathers please.

I can send you a SAE so it won't cost you a penny to send them to me. Or you can pop them in the post - PM me for the address.

Are you sure it's the breast feathers you want? The most sought after feathers from a drake mallard are the bronze barred feathers that drape over the rear of the closed wing from the birds back. They are used for dabblers, mallard and claret etc. There are only about three pairs on a drake in full plumage allowing approx three fly wings per feather. Non shooters pay dearly for them after gun and tackle trade mark up. We all know about that here.

Also in demand arewell marked teal drake barred flank feathers used for peter ross and teal, blue & silver.

Duck shooters your fly tying friends would be delighted if you didn't throw them out.

Would like to help myself but I'm just about self sufficient.

Yes, they are to make the wings of the Devaux Sedge which is deadly on the Boyne.

You'll have no shortage, there are hundreds on a drake breast.

Haven't discarded the peter ross myself yet, had too many good sea trout on it and a summer salmon on my 21st birthday from memory.

Marlin do you own a fish shop or whats the story? Or maybe a you were in a competition? Other than that i cant see why anyone would kill that amount of trout.

Almost all of those sea trout are net marked. Presume they are from a draft net haul. However they look rather small to be caught in legal mesh size.
