Anyone catch this in TV3 last night? I had seen it advertised in US last year, delighted its hit Irish screens. A bit like the Sopranos with an Irish twist.

    Any views?

a lad i lived with last year is a big fan and i caught a few episodes when it was on fx. from what ive seen, its a quality show. great acting from the leads jason isaacs, fionula flanagan and that aussie guy who plays tommy.

whether it reaches sopranos heights, time will tell. but tv3 have a gem on thier hands and this is definately worth checking out.

It is worth sticking with. Season 3 has just started in the US so, hopefully, TV3 will run season 1 into season 2.

I've only watched the first few episodes of season 1, comparing it to the sopranos sort of handicaps the show but it's good in it's own right.

Watched the first 2 seaons on FX and really enjoyed it. Acting is top notch and the odd "top o' the morning to ya" in the dialogue makes it quite funny as well.

I'd never heard of it until about a week ago, so thought I'd give it a watch. I thought it was excellent and it shows how boring politics is if you're not corrupt. That explains Bertie then.

Season 3 is fantastic so far.

I thought yesterday's episode was stunning. The 4 different storyline approach worked wonderfully. No action, just great, great drama and superb acting from everyone. Someone give Bryan F. O'Byrne an award already. The man deserves it. His scenes with Kat were incredible.
Michael on the rampage was great to watch, too. He's ****ing losing it.

5th episode of season 3 was great.
Poor Colin, this isn't gonna end well for him. :( I hope Michael gets killed. He must be the most evil and scary bastard on tv. Everytime he's on-screen you feel like he's gonna beat the shít out of someone or kill them. He's got a frightening presence about him. Brilliantly played by Jason Isaacs, though.

Season 3 discussion should really be spoilered there, chalkitdown1, as this thread was started to discuss season 1 on TV3, and you don't want to go ruining it for those who aren't up that far yet.

anyone sky plus this last night on channel 6? I started watching it and it was only half an hour! Couldn't figure what I had missed from last weeks ep and then copped that it had started taping during an ad break aswhen I was forwarding I didn't realise it was mid-episode. Presume channel 6 don't repeat it either.

Well worth checking out. Half way through season 2 and loving it.

Last nights episode in the states(season 3, episode 7) was in-fúcking-credible. And still nobody will watch it. :( Probably my favourite episode of all 3 series.
Every single actor on this show deserves an award. Jason Isaacs does more with his eyes than most actors do with their bodies and voices combined. He plays that character so well. The "loyalty" scene between himself & Colin in the car was so unbelievably tense. The standout scene for me in an episode chock-full of standout moments. Michael is so unhinged, I thought he was gonna lose it there and then. The season(& series?) finale next week should be something special. It is not going to end well.

The final episode of Brotherhood was incredible. And it was definitely the final episode. No doubt about it. :( There's no way it'll be coming back after the way they ended it. If they do, it'll be a very different show. At least it went out on it's highest point. It's never been as good as it has these past few weeks, which is why it's so upsetting to see it gone. :(

There was some outstanding scenes in that episode.
The shootout outside Rose's house, the heart to heart between Michael & Tommy, basically pretty much every scene with Jason Isaacs. The close ups of his face were unreal. The guy can do wonderous things with his eyes. I had to look away during the torture scene.

In the end, I'd say Tommy ended up worse than Michael after everything. I presume he got Freddy to murder Kilpatrick. Killed someone to save his own skin. He's never done anything that extreme before. And now Freddie has him in his back pocket again.

Poor Colin & Kath, though. The horrible sex and subsequent silence between them in the diner afterwards was very well done. It was never meant to be. I wonder where Colin ended up?

I like how everything kinda came full circle. Michael gone, Tommy corrupt as a motherfúcker, Deco back on the booze.

God, I'm gonna miss this show. :(

    Fúck you Showtime!

It's over, for good? I haven't watched this weeks episode yet, didn't even realise this was the end of the series, let alone the whole show.

Echo chalkitdown1, fcuk you very much Sho, if you've canceled this now.

    Has it been cancelled?

Showtime has axed Brotherhood, it has been announced.
According to E! Online, the Irish-American Mafia family drama will not be renewed for a fourth season.
The show has recently been plagued with rumours surrounding its cancellation. Fionnula Flanagan, aka Rose Caffee, said earlier this year: "We're on hiatus, and we're waiting to hear what Showtime's pleasure is about that.
"It will all have to be balanced with what else Showtime has on its roster for this next year. Usually the shooting season was the summer, so I should imagine that we'll know soon."

    :(

I'm only getting into this now.

Watched Season 1 and halfway through Series 2.

I remember it on TV3 or maybe that was TG4 a few years back, got the boxsets and flying through the episodes.

It's pretty damn good, any other fans or feedback?
I'm aware it's a bit of a thread bump but no point in me starting a new thread

I didn't really think the plot threads in this went anywhere. Granted, I only watched up to the first few episodes of season 2, but they spent way too much time focusing on characters and plot-lines which seemed of little consequence to the plot.

I do agree though that Jason Issacs is great in the role. The whole cast is fantastic.

TV3 showed Series 1 and FX UK showed Series 1 and 2

I didnt see Series 3 at all - how did the show end?

I did enjoy it and as echoed before Jason Issacs was great in his role
