    Hi there

I am currently studing the security + at a local college.

They are using the pre Oct 08 version. I was wondering will covering the materials for the old exam be enough to cover the new course

I have studied a no of books available(incl Sybex) and sample questions are the same for old and new curriculum.

    Any advice would be great
    Noel

    Hi Noel

If you go to the CompTIA website at the following link it will give you details of then retirement date for the old exams.

    http://certification.comptia.org/security/bridgeexam.aspx

As you can see there is a bridge exam to upgrade from the old certification which kind of implies that there might be a significant difference.

I have not had time to compare the two but you can find both of the exam objectives here. (Just enter basic details no need to register)

    http://certification.comptia.org/resources/objectives.aspx

As with all new updates to certifications it may take a while before you see courseware available for the new exam.

Sorry i didnt answer you question fully but hopefully the info will help.

Best of luck in your exam

    Regards

    David
