    Okay here's the story:

I detected a virus (AntivirusPro 2009) last night, did a search here and downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to help get rid of the virus. I think it worked, however this evening I can't get my AV (AVG Free) to update.

    Using:
    Win XP
    AVG
    Malwarebytes
Also downloaded Dr. Web CureIt last night.

Have I a conflict preventing me from updating my AV or is it something else?

Any ideas of what I can do?

Problems updating here as well. Maybe they have stopped support of the free AVG.

    Okay, thanks for that.

Maybe I should switch over to Avast. Anyone know how good that is?

A few people on the AVG forum have mentioned it..

Someone suggested that the Update servers are either overloaded, being worked on or having other issues at this time and to try again later.

Don't switch yet, AVG have just sorted an update problem. Thing should be back to normal soon. Anyway, your update probably aren't that old.

This mornings update happened fine for me, so no more than a 12 hrs out of date.
So updated files will be very current.

    Thanks for your help.

I did a search on the C&T forum for a thread I started a few weeks back about recommending an AV program and went with Avira as recommended then. I downloaded to my daughters laptop and will now try it on mine for a while.
