Ok so not really sure if this is an issue or not, but my next door neighbours have just recently raised their sky dish(they got an extension) and it is now blocking ours and we are not getting a signal. I can really move mine any higher as it would be on the roof, plus the fact I don't really want to get someone in do it. Would I be within my rights to ask them to move their dish or is my problem?

    Thanks:o

Thats the thing, I can't really call into them as we don't talk. Not for any reason really, but I haved lived here nearly 3 years and we haven't spoken, they are not approachable:o

I rang Sky about it, it will cost me €100 for an engineer to call out and I can't afford that right now, so have been living with no telly for the last two weeks:(

Why don't you move your dish lower?

    Dont be such a wuss.

Your neighbours effectively blocked your signal by improving theirs.

You should pop in and say hi - but when you placed your sat dish where you did -the engineer installed it in a way that blocks my signal.

Its not as if they planned it.

really sky should send out the installer to remedy it and the installer should have known enough to know that you would be affected. Your neighbour should arrange it.

Tell them and if they are good neighbours the will right it for your mutual benefit

Why don't you tell SKY that you are cancelling al their subscriptions if they don't fix a problem that was probably caused by one of their installers installing a dish on the adjoining property in such a way that it blocks your signal?

That way you don't annoy your neighbours or cost them (or you) money. You shouldn't be expected to pay for someone else's mistake, tell SKY that under no circumstances will you be paying for it. You pay yur subcription and expect a service, you are not getting it.

they should be the ones to amend the problem

your best bet would be to talk to your neighbour. But if you dont want to, just phone sky and tell them you want to cancel your sky, they ask why, so just tell them your signal is very bad and your not paying for something you cant watch. They will be out within a few days guaranteed, i've done this and they always try and charge you, until you threaten to cancel your subscription.

Just to say thanks all for the advice. I rang Sky this morning to cancel and they are now sending an engineer out free of charge to fix the problem:D

    Well done - result!

We don't complain half as much as we should.

You better believe it, we put up with far too much mediocre service. The Irish are a nation of "yes" man wusses to be honest. We largely have ourselves to blame for crap customer service.
