avg not updating

Any one else having trouble with avg not updating.
I just reinstalled it ,and its still the same.

Wouldn't update for me this evening ... tried again just now, updated fine.

Maybe the update site had 'issues' ?

Seems there were issues with their server recently. A lot of problems with AVG since ver 8 was released.

I have the paid for version of AVG. I recently updated to AVG 8.0 and it was working fine. However last night i started my pc, on AVG, the firewall was not working, email scanner was not funcioning properly and also web shield was down.
I uninstalled it and re installed 7.5 which seemed to work fine.
Is it worth going back to download version 8.00 or should i wait for grisoft to patch up whatever problems there are?

Same here intermittantly for the past month or more,
and on different PC's on different network setups also. All machines running the most recent version and do update intermittantly from time to time.
Strange one, their servers may be overloaded or somthing similiar.

A cut and paste from yahoo answers, but it sorted out all the avg "invalid update control cft file" messages I was getting.


You need to delete the CTF temp files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avg8\update\download.... Dont delete all the .bin files in there unless you want to re-run all updates since your original installation. Only delete the avginfo files that end with .ctf....

Not sure if u mean the Antivirus program
If its AVG Antispyware which I have been using, you cant update it as its not supported anymore (since end Dec 08)
They want you to upgrade to the combo program AVG8, this is far too slow for me

Removed AVG Antispyware form my pc last night

Make sure you've got the latest free AVG version, I think it's AVG 8. I notice they seem to give lower priority to the updates for older versions. Latest version is better designed anyway.
