You most likely won't do any mechanical damage from driving it hard, apart from speedy tyre and brake wear, but the other people on the track may crash into you.

Does anyone know if any Irish insurance companies do special cover for track days?

I wouldnt do it with my own car. Clutch, brakes, tyres & engine will take a hammering if ya go flat out which I assume you will.

Are your suspension & brakes in tip top condition? Dont do it if not.

I dont know how many laps you can do at these track days but you would probably overheat your brakes and get a very bad spongy pedal fairly quickly if you drive a few hot laps together.
