help with playing on-line ps3 fifa09

    Hi lads,

    Im new to the on-line play with the ps3,i just signed up today.
    When trying to play a quick game, my session times out??

    A friend said try turning off my firewall (as u agree this is bad), i tryed it and got a game straight away. I went back and out my firewall back to medium and than got a game also??

    Is it my firewall settings or what?

    How can i play my fifa online and still be safe with my firewall settings?

    help please:confused:

    How is your PS3 connected to the internet? Who is the ISP?
    It sounds from your post, that you are using internet connection sharing through PC, laptop to play the PS3 online?

    im using wireless internet, eircom! also surfing on the laptop...

    sorry not great with tech stuff...

    OK the basic stuff first.
    How far is PS3 from your Eircom router? If you go to Network Settings on PS3, whats the signal strength? Are you also signed out of PSN when your FIFA game time-outs?

    its not far from the router,10 yards!! signal strength is 100%, no, i stay signed in when the game times out...

    when it searches for a player, i get to the team selection page...than it times out with "this game is no longer available"

    kind of have the same problem...i think the reason for it is because you aint forward your ports i know nothing about forwarding ports though...i usually get to team selection and the other player and me have the same team for some reason but then after a few seconds a different team loads out...you just need to give it time and keep trying..

    I had the same problem with eircom, took me bout 3 hours to learn how to port forward with Eircom wireless broadband,

    browse the routers Web interface, usually 192.168.1.254 or 245 at the end.

    Then select expert mode, and then configuration, you should then see NAT Settings,

    In this there is the option of adding a port to the enables list, so you need to create a new port forward,

    This is so awkward to explain through text, if you trust me to text your number then i could ring you to explain as your at your PS3 and laptop,

    Up to you but i genually want to help, i know the frustration.

    i tryed putting in all the ports in my router & it never worked...

    I than tryed http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055407331&highlight=ps3+firewall+nat the youtube vid of the carlow man!

    On my 4th attempt it worked....im able to play any1 now :D...

    Im all day trying to fix it,me head is wrecked...

    i posted this over at another forum
    fifa uses different ports inconjunction with psn ports, you may need to forward them, it lists them in the manual,

    go to http://192.168.1.254
    then custom services and add each port
