I was busy the last few days, but managed to get to an old haunt of mine !
I fell in love with this photo, it has very little processing done to it, just a little brightness.
What do ye think, does it need more, or a little cropping?
The more I look at it, the more confused I get.

There's nothing in it to attract the eye.

    kensutz,

I think that's a bit harsh on Morriseeee. To be fair he could do with moving the composition of the photo to the right and therefore drawing the viewer into the photo with the line of the stream.

I like the idea Morisseee was going for, and even though he didn't quite get the shot 100%, I like the line of the stream and the angle of the tree.

    That's my tuppence worth.........

Composition wasn't easy as I was on a little island with no real movement, the tripod was low to the ground and I didn't have my wet gear on !
Its not the 100% shot, but its one I really like, ie. the stream, stones in the water, the diff angle of the trees, the height of the trees, the sun coming through the trees, the autumnly feel, the isolation of the shot, yeah that about sums it up.

just looking at it from the phone at the moment so some of what id think may not apply when I see it on a bigger screen.

I think it certinly has potential. ok, so if there was something to draw the eye a little more it would make the overall composition better, but maybe there wasn't something better available.

I like the silky appearance of the water at the right which i'm guessing is achieved with a longer exposure. however the compromise is on what looks like burn out peering through the trees.

you've nicely choosen a low angle which I like but I think altering the water to foliage ratio would improve (maybe 80/20 or 70/30 or vise versa).

i'd like to see a crop like above and also as a square crop format.

    hope that helps.

I think its a gorgeous picture. My 6 yr old sat beside me and said wwwwwwwwooooooooooooooooooooow!

I do thin though it could do with more saturation / contrast but photographically it's good.

Just had a look on the big screen - now my screen isn't calibrated but i'd say a simple addition of contrast (quite a bit) will work wonders. With the addition of contrast, it takes some 'greyness' out of the image and make the bright sun peering through the trees (which i didn't like on my phone) quite a feature to it. It also works very well as a b/w conversion desaturate, reduce brightness slightly, and add a lot of contrast. So i think you've lots of options with it.

I'm only a complete beginner to this whole photography lark so my C+C isn't worth anything, but I absolutely love the Autumny feel I get from this scene so for my money, a lovely shot. Beautiful area too, do you mind me asking where this was taken as it looks familiar?

I like it, but do agree that it needs some punch factor! :D
How do you make the water so clear and "see-through", is there filters used for this? I'm never near streams etc., but when I was down the canal I kept getting reflections!

    it looks familiar?
I doubt if its familiar, as its on a private property, and judging by the amount of foliage I had to get thru to get here, I'd say nobody had been there in quite a while.
    make the water so clear
I think that might be down to the fact that this place is quite shaded by the tall trees.

Just some other pics from the area: I took a fair few, I must go thru them when I get a chance and pick out the best of them:

    Morrisee,

Really like the last two here,

Interseting composition especially the stream flowing under the fallen tree trunk. Maybe boost the colour saturation a little and you have some fine shots.
