    You need:
    • programming cable specific for CP040
    • RIB box (probably does several models)
    • Usually a RIB power supply, ideally a Radio mains supply too to avoid "bricking" the Radio by battery going flat during programming.
    • RS232 cable to RIB box
    • PC/Laptop with real serial port and matching spec of Motorola SW.
    • Specific Motorola Programming Software that supports your Model (the software usually supports a "family" of Models).

    See http://www.airsys.co.uk/Motorola/CP040.htm

    Scroll down to Programming.

You can also try ringing Long Communications, Donegal; South East Communications Waterford and CellCom in Galway to see have they a programming service.

DIY would set you back almost €300. Avoid eBay RIB boxes and cables as some (many?) don't work and you usually also have to pirate the actual programming Software from somewhere.

I keep an old 386 PC with DOS 6.22 for the older Motorola Programming Software as it doesn't work on faster PCs. (I made a RIB adaptor for Motorola GM300).

And don't forget the appropriate license for the radios too...

Well, that applies before re-programming too :)
