    Hi guys,

Any suggestions of a good tv tuner add-on for my macbook. I'm not looking for something too expensive and if there was a bricks and mortar shop that sold one all the better.

    Thanks

It's been suggested in a few different threads and I'll recommend it again:

The Elgato Eye TV Hybrid - solid hardware and great software...

If you shop around, you'll probably find it at a better price than Apple directly. Not sure if any stores stock it around Dublin - you could try the Spectra on Grafton Street or any of the 3G stores (or possibly PC World).

This is what I bought in PCWorld and it works fine with EyeTV which can be bought online.

You basically have two options in terms of software : SageTV and EyeTV. Of the two I would recommend EyeTV as it's a more friendly product to use and also supports a wider variety of tv tuners.

My recommendation is also the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid which I recently purchased myself. It's a bargain considering the retail price for the EyeTV software alone is €80.

The online Apple store offers the best price for the product (€120 including delivery), Elgato are selling it for €130 + €7 delivery). I received the order within three days of ordering it from the Apple website.

That's a nice surprise - I always tend to assume Apple has higher prices for everything but that seems to be changing :). Good stuff.

    I was shocked too. :)

I bought a set of Creature II speakers during the summer for €75 on Komplett's website, Apple were selling the same speakers for €100 which is an incredible markup.

It definitely pays to shop around but in the case of the EyeTV products Apple are the best deal going considering delivery is included.

PC world have updated to the HVR-950, its now white too, comes with eyetv software and is €80 I believe.
