    Fairly lucky, thanks for asking.

    I doubt that.

    No thanks.

Yes, you are quite right. I have made my choice.

That post has done nothing but prove that certain (not all) members and elements of the church are just meme spreaders. You just said there in short follow jesus/god or you'll pay, how lovely. You could just be a troll though.

I'm with the pudding man on this one.

You betcha, all of the OP's points are totally valid. Indra will tear you a new one if you don't all follow him...

Being serious for a moment OP you are proposing Pascal's wager and it's long been discredted as a serious argument for any form of faith. Basically your odds of choosing the right god of the thousands that have been worshiped since the dawn of time are vanishingly small. I just go one god further than you so my odds of being right are either massivly higher or slightly vanishingly smaller.

This is the Christian forum, kinda preaching to the choir here.

Take it over to the A&A forum and the fun can begin :P

    Agreed.

The odds of picking the right god or gods (or goddesses) are so small that the only sensible choice is to pick none and take your chances that if a god or gods exists they will see this choice as reasonable and not punish you for it.

It seems to me that any reasonable higher being would view making this choice as more favorable than the choice of picking a god or gods to worship since such a choice would be hard to make without invoking selfish emotions on the part of the chooser ("I choose this god because he gives me stuff", "I choose this god because he smites my enemies" etc etc).

No that is not what i am saying,

I dont know what happens after this life,

It wasn't that it was preachy, more that to generate an actual discussion you need opposing arguments (probably from atheists, though I'm sure Christians could think of good ones too) and that really falls into the realm of discussing belief vs non-belief, which is slightly out of scope for the Christian forum and better suited to the A&A forum.

Well now in fairness djeddy you did said that those who don't believe in Jesus need to ask themselves do they feel lucky because they will meet him one day. I'm not sure what was supposed to be implied by that if it is wasn't that non-believers are risking bad things by not believing in Jesus ...

Well yes, but the issue is which god?

The question is is picking the wrong god to "love" worse than picking no god at all?

    Thread locked at OP's request.

I am doing this for one time only as a favour, but in future let everybody think about what they post. Once you hit that button then it's like squeezing toothpaste out of the tube - you can't put it back.
