as the title sais, iv plugged me maudio 49 oxygen into my projectmix desk, and theres no sign of being able to trigger drum hits with me midi controller keyboard.

i know this is posible, as iv done it before over on my mates, but cant helpbut feel theres something im just doing right, clicking something, setting something simple up etc....

so i open bfd under a pro tools audio track, bfd mono. i click the top tab at the left and load say a pearl kit. yet the keys arnt sounding.

the projectmix desk flashes a small dot on the lcd when i hit a key, so hopefully what im doing is right.

    any help?:(

Have you tried going to the top left corner and selecting

BFD Stand alone > I/0 Setting > Midi ports

    Then select your controller

Don't plug the keyboard into the project mix ya madzzer! Plug it directly into the mac or pc via usb and reboot pro tools!! In BFD you have to make sure the keyboard is setup in the plug in prefrences, thats all I was saying E?.

    First things first:

Have you tried the keyboard in stand alone?

If the keyboard is working in stand alone try that. I am going into Pro tools now to see what is up. Are you putting BFD 2 on an AUX track or a MIDI track or a midi instrument track? I need more info please?

Just open your software sequencer and go into preferences. Look for your midi settings and if you have the drivers installed you should see your keyboard under Midi Inputs. Select it, and bob's your uncle.

Try resetting your keyboard to factory default!

ok iv reinstalled the drivers, straight from maudio.

iv also changed the usb port to go directly straight into the motherboard, cause when i bought the case for me pc the front ports were 1.0 unfortunatly.

dav ma man i tried resetting the keyboard but with a device that only has an lcd screen and only a few lousy knobs i dont think it even has a reset button!!

    im getting this message everytime:

Protools is unable to communicate with HUI. Power-cycle HUI and check its connections. NOTE, if HUI is not in use, update the peripherals dialog to prevent further warnings.'

iv done everything that said! :( im putting it on an audio track, maybe thats the prob? i havent tried it in a stand alone as i actually dont have any, im also using bfd 1 too.

iv got my drum track that id like to just play my own kick track over, so i fired up bfd 1 stereo(mono) in the insert section. then i loaded a kit and when i openned the key area it has all the hits already assigned. im pretty sure it may be the keyboard?

Sorry to hear you are still having trouble.

Did you try a different USB cable sometimes the most obvious thing is the killer?

Returning to the Factory Default Setting
You can reset the Oxygen controller back to the factory default settings on power-up by holding down the Data - and + buttons.

UPGRADE the firmware on your USB midi device I think this is the problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,182 ✭✭✭dav nagle

    Launch ProTools
Go to Setups > Peripherals... > MIDI Controllers (tab)
    Set the "Type" as HUI
Set the "Receive From" and "Send To" as 'USB Audio Device'

If you are unable to select 'USB Audio Device' in ProTools, navigate to Start Menu > Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Audio (tab) and set the 'USB Audio Device' as the Default device for MIDI music playback and click "OK". Then, repeat steps 1-4.

Try everything especially the firmware and your away in a hack I bet!

Have you the most recent update of BFD? She is an unstable beast at the best of times, although the last update about a month ago really improved things.
