Sky Plus going, going, nearly gone...

    Hi Guys,
I have Sky multiroom with two out of warrenty Sky Plus boxes, both of which I have changed the hard drives and invalidated the warrenty anyway. Both boxes are on their way out.
    1. This one will not come out of standby. You can reflash the software (Power+Backup button) but that is all it does. It is picking up the IR as the light flashes but nothing else.
    2. This one is jumping when recording, it freezes up and is generally acting like the hard drive is failing and it is so old it could do with a renewal...

My question is - will sky replace these for me to keep me as a customer or do I need to buy new boxes, and if so what is the current going rate. There looks like loads of deals for new customers but none for existing ones. I was speaking to one of the customer service reps in Sky and got as much sense as I would from a 2 year old.

I guess a second question is whether I contact Sky or a local provider to get at least one new box.

    Thanks in advance,
    - Paul

There's been a number of threads where people have rung up sky saying they are along standing client and should get the same deals new clients get. And sky gave them.
You should ring up sky and do the same - you seem like a good customer (i.e. multiroom) and i reckon they won't want to loose you over a settop box.

    give it a go!
