Just ordered Sky hd after waiting 6 months for eircom to sort me out with a phone line for multiroom, not only was I given an install date 2nd January but I also missed the half price offer last week.

And to top all of that I recorded a **** load of stuff while I was away only to discover my sky card had **** itself the day before I came home, not only can I not view any of my recordings but I only have english freeview channels till the new card arrives ! Has this happened to anyone else ? Why would the card just stop working considering there was no one near the system all week ????

    I aint impressed.

ps anyone a sky hd installer ? ;)

The sky HD install you mention sounds about right. Over on Avforums it was mentioned several weeks agao that people in the UK are having installation dates given for January also. Something got to do with Demand greater than supply at the moment but others have also said that some installers are just being to quick fire at replacing boxes and sending perfectly good ones back to sky wthout checking them properly.

So ! I have decided to cancel my sky hd install with Sky itself, can anyone tell me of any re-sellers or even anybody that are in or provide to Dublin. I planned ahead and all the cable work phone lines etc are sorted all I need is the box, and it to be added to my subscription. Thanks folks !

FWIW, I had Sky HD installed (along with a multiroom upgrade) last week - I ordered it only a week beforehand.

Lucky you ! Did you go direct through sky ?

Got an update, spoke to a re-seller/ installer and he informs me he can still do the offer for me, also having read up alot on here, many people got multiroom for 7.50 euro.

Just rang sky cancelled my hd install in January as re-seller should have boxes in a couple of weeks and when i said I would cancel my whole subscription if I didnt get the 7.50 offer I was told that was for new customers only so I said fine cancel me, he promptley said I could have the offer if I stayed ! How can they get away with this ???? Im usually nice as pie to call centre peeps as I know they get a lot of idiot a**holes, but it pays to be one sometimes ;)

Yeah, Sky sometimes do give offers to those who wish to cancel, in order to keep subscribers. handy when out of warranty hardware goes faulty!

I have one on Order for nearly 6weeks, gone crazy to get, think its because of the changeover of manufacturers and the fact they were selling for €75 a few weeks ago now back upto €149

    Threads merged

I was talking to supplier during last week, and while they had no HD boxes in stock, they were expectiing more near the end of the month.

Due to the fact that there was so many orders during the half price promotion..there is an official shortage of HD boxes..but i have been told that on wed(2moro) there will be a few coming in and they will go to those who preordered...then wont be back in stock till Jan 09.
