    got a new laptop

the regular projector won't work. well it flashes up the image for a split second

is it something to do with the widescreen resolution of the new laptop??

also, whats the best way to move all the stuff off the old laptop onto the new one??

Almost certainly. Check the projector manual for supported resolutions.

Memory stick or a network connection depending on how much data you need to transfer.

Best way to set up any projector is using dual display which means its like having two monitors side by side one just happens to be a projector.

To do this got to display properties select the second monitor and select extend my desktop.......

This will allow you to have a different resolution to the one on your laptop screen and will also allow you to work away on the laptop without everyone seeing whats going on on the projector.

If using powerpoint go to slideshow settings slideshow display on secondry monitor and use presentor view.

To put up anything on it just drag it across from one screen to another.

Easiest way to copy stuff is over ethernet just get a cross over cable or if you have a wirless router your sorted. Make sure both computers are under the same workgroup/domain and make sure the folder you want to share is shared (properties/sharing) and then go to network neighbourhood and you should see the folders and drag and drop.
