iPod Touch - 8GB, 16GB or 32GB?

Hopefully, I'll be buying an iPod Touch soon but I can't seem to decide between the 8GB or the 32GB version. The cost difference is considerable and I'm wondering is it worth it to go for the 32GB version?

Those of you with the 8GB version, do you spend much time selecting the tracks you want on your iPod?

I currently have a 4G iPod 20GB (maybe it's 3G, I dunno) and I just about squeeze everything I have on it and like the fact that I don't have to pick what I want to listen to. Before I did a cull on some music I never ever listen to I did have to deselect, track by track, so that they wouldn't make it to my iPod.

Maybe there's a better way of mass-selecting music for inclusion?

Your thoughts would be appreciated on this. 32GB is the simple solution, but I'd rather the €150 in my pocket if it was workable.

    Thanks,

    Alan.

I bought my 16GB the week they came out here and i've never had a problem with memory, I've got 10GB of music and plenty of pictures on it and realistically I could probably cut down the music to 6/7GB cause you're just not gonna need to all on there at once....... playlists are a handy way around this as well

The 16 GB might be a decent compromise maybe.

I'm not a fan of playlists really. What I want to listen to changes all the time unfortunately.

Is there a way to mass deselect tracks for inclusion on the iPod? So if I wanted to drop 1000 tracks, would I have to deselect each and every one of them or could I deselect a whole genre if I wanted?

16 is a happy medium, its enough to have what u want and need with usually a little left over to spare

Wanna buy my (new model) 32gb ipod touch ;) given you need the space but want to save some money... apologies for the plug, just thought i'd put it out there.

Just an FYI, I had a 16gb ipod touch last year, thinking I could easily pick and choose my music...but that got old real fast... furthermore the actually capacity of the 16gb model is 14.9gb, IIRC, and the actual capacity of the 32gb model is 29.7gb.

no sorry, don't have the money right now. I've to sell a few bits and bobs first to fund it.

Why are you selling your 32GB?

If there was a way to select music by genre or deselect large groups of music in a couple of clicks I think I'd even put up with 8GB.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and being able to pick which podcast to load on to the iPod is handy

In itunes you can set up smart playlists to only include certain genres, so that could solve your problem :)

I'm selling the touch because I'm cutting down on the number of gadgets I own, and in absolutely no great rush to get rid of it.

    haha.....of course.....:D

I saw smart playlists on the menu before, but I don't use playlists so never pursued it.

I've got a first gen 32GB model. If you want videos and podcasts it will fill up quickly.

If you're not interested in that 16GB will probably be enough for now. There will be better models with more GB in the future, and prices will probably come down too.

Yeah, I'm a big podcast man and watching an odd video would be great too when I'm away on business. The wife gets to keep the MacBook when I'm away and I'm a recent iTunes movie buyer/renter, so being able to watch them on the iPod would be great.

They may get a capacity increase at the end of January at the big do Apple have, but there's always going to be capacity increases....hhmm...do I wait for a cheaper 32GB model in January.....
