Hopefully Quinn can breathe some life into Cleveland (although the short week and the fact that Braylon Edwards is still dropping passes hardly helps)-Broncos getting worse by the game but could still be the best team in the West at the end of the year.

I'll update the rest of my picks later.

The 'buck' has deffo gone out of the Broncos, big time.
They started the season with a bad defense & now they have NO offence !

DEN @ CLE - Brady Quinn taking snaps as a starter? Give him time, I don't expect him to perform miracles in Cleveland immediately. Denver have been woeful recently though. Tough one to call.
NO @ ATL - Big, big game in NFC South. Having seen the Saints in Wembley and coming off the bye week I think they have what it takes to win in the ATL.
TEN @ CHI - Come on Titans beat those lousy bears!
JAC @ DET - Jacksonville have underperformed this season. Detroit on the other hand are there to make up the numbers.
BAL @ HOU - Well, well it appears Baltimore have a football team.
SEA @ MIA - A part of me actually sees the Seahawks winning this one. But I'll let logic tell me that it will be the Miami Dolphins.
GB @ MIN - Massive game in NFC North. Vikings are finally coming into their own. Whereas the Packers have been impressive in parts and have suffered through a combination of bad luck and conservative play calling. Packers to win.
BUF @ NE - The Bills' good early running is dead. Patriots cannot afford to lose.
STL @ NYJ - The chief weapon for the Jets these past few games has not been Brett Favre's arm but rather the running game.
    CAR @ OAK
IND @ PIT - After beating the Redskins my faith in the Steelers is boosted.
KC @ SD - San Diego have not have a good year but I think a win here puts them in poll position for AFC West.
NYG @ PHI - New York are on a roll! Philly's chances of taking NFC East come down to this game. I don't think they can deal with the Giants.
SF @ ARI - Normally a shocking encounter but how about Kurt Warner?! MVP possibility for sure.

    8-6 the week
    63-49 the season

Cleveland - Quinn to work miracles.
Saints - Rookie slump is about to hit Matt Ryan.
Chicago - I'm going to keep picking against the Titans until they lose.
Jacksonville - Lions now have a QB. But that's it, pretty much.
Miami - Defense is going wild in Miami, and if you can't have a stud QB, then an efficient one and a good D is the way to win.
New England - Belichick to angrily stare the Bills into submission, then to challenge their submission and do it again.
Jets - Jackson is injured. That leaves us with a slowing-down WR and a hotting-up WR as offensive weapons. I can see the Jets dealing with a throw-first game, or at least trumping it with one of their own if necessary.
Green Bay - Their record isn't looking as good as it should. A win here should help.
Baltimore - Ray Lewis will be destroying fools well into his 50s, I think. One tall receiver doth not a team make.
Carolina - Hmmm, how do you deal with Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad and a good run game? Fire the number 2 corner in the middle of the season. Good going, Al.
Indianapolis - Ben's still convalescent, and an ad somewhere told me that Peyton Manning's IQ is 138, so I'm going with him.
San Diego - Kansas are "rebuilding", Chargers are peaking. Might not be going as planned, but they're still way too good here.
Philadelphia - Westbrook = champagne. Jacobs = a keg of beer.
Arizona - How were the Cardinals ever thinking Leinart was a good idea. Teleporting the ball to Boldin and Fitzgerald, all the way to the Pro Bowl.

First TD pass for Quinn tonight.

    They're down 27-23 in the 4th though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Alas, no fairytale for Quinn. He got the Browns back in front and had good numbers but they were immediately behing again thank to Jay Cutler who had a monster night.

    Cutler's numbers - 24/42, 447 yards, 3 TDs, 1 Int
    Quinn's numbers - 23/35, 239 yards, 3 TDs, 0 Int

    34-30 Broncos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,146 ✭✭✭Morrisseeee

Yeah, Cutler (& the offence) looked a bit better, almost back to start-of-season form........almost !
The Browns must hate seeing the Broncos come in to town !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,067 ✭✭✭tallaghtoutlaws

Thing is with the Browns their offence wasnt the worst part their D this year has been abysmal. Don't get me wrong Mr Quinn has seemed to lift their offence but if their D had not have crumbled this year Mr Andersen would still have a job as starter.

NO @ ATL Georgia Dome 1:00 PM NO coming off a bye, but without Reggie, I like Atlanta-I wasn't overly impressed with the Saints in the London game-felt it was the Chargers ineptness that made them look good.
TEN @ CHI Soldier Field 1:00 PM I guess the Titans have to lose sometime, but I can't see Rex Grossman beating them...
JAC @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM I've given up on the Jags, but surely they can beat a team with a 'cold' QB starting?
BAL @ HOU Reliant Stadium 1:00 I have to believe the Ravens are for real, and if they can handle the Browns pass attack, I like them to do likewise against Sage Rosenfels and the Texans.
SEA @ MIA Dolphin Stadium 1:00 PM No way Seattle wins this one.
GB @ MIN Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome 1:00 PM Packers could have beaten the Titans last week-I like them to take over the NFC Central over the next 2 weeks.
BUF @ NE Gillette Stadium 1:00 PM Pats probably should have beaten the Colts, Cassel is playing ok, the Bills are on a slippery slope.
STL @ NYJ Giants Stadium 1:00 PM Meh. Looks like the Rams run of success is over-big win for the Jets last week.
CAR @ OAK McAfee Coliseum 4:05 PM Jebus. How bad were the Raiders last week?
IND @ PIT Heinz Field 4:15 PM No Willie Parker and possibly no Ben for the Steelers. Home field swings it for them, but a Colts win wouldn't surprise me.
KC @ SD Qualcomm Stadium 4:15 PM But by nowhere near the spread-the Chargers looked truly awful against the Saints.
NYG @ PHI Lincoln Financial Field 8:15 PM Eagles just not good enough on offense to take down the Giants, who have a great recent record against the Eagles.
    Mon, Nov 10
SF @ ARI University of Phoenix Stadium 8:30 PM Will Mike Singletary have cause for the 'no pants dance' again this week? I wouldn't be surprised.

    0-1 so far this week
    Last week 10-4
Record to end of last week 88-44

FFS Chiefs lose by a single point to the Chargers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,788 ✭✭✭Vikings

I'd rather lose in that fashion - failing on a 2pt conversion to win the game - than tie it up with a kick to lose the toss in OT and then go on to lose the game. At 1-7 theres nothing to lose by going for the win like that.

Oh and the Vikings beat the Packers............................ OH YEAH!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,544 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Wow big win for the Colts.:cool: Big show tonight from the defence. If the Colts can keep everybody healthy they are as menacing as they've been in any of the last 10 years. Bob Sanders is such a big time player.

Unlucky for KC. I think they should've consolidated and gone for the pat to bring it into overtime. Especially after last week. Easy in hindsight but when the season is against you, even a chance in o/t is something.

I agree to a point, but they failed with the 2 point conversion earlier in the game... What made them think they could convert this time?

The only reason that you would go for it, is being in the 1-7 situation that they were in. Otherwise it should have been kicked to tie it up and hope that you get the ball in OT.

Steelers vs Colts game was very good. I had a sneaky suspicion from the beginning of the game that the Colts would win this one. Rothlinsberger just made too many mistakes and he got punished each time by the Colts. I think 2 TDs resulted from the interceptions on the return drive...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Personally I would have taken the XP and risked OT. A 2 point conversion is too much of a lottery.

They did. But the Colts never win in Pittsburgh. At the end Jim Nance said it was deja vu with the hail mary batted down in the endzone. Exactly what I was thinking after '95 and the AFC championship game didn't go our way in three rivers stadium.

The championship might go through Pittsburgh again this year though.

When Shanahan did it it was gutsy. When Herm did it it was reckless. The only difference is the final result. It's a matter of opinion really. I personally would never go for 2 in that position, but that's me

Here's the one that I cant figure out. Why did KC go for 2 in the 2nd Quater? They were 7 ahead after scoring the TD, so getting 1 made it a "2 score game", ok Chargers can get a TD and go for the 2 but still effectively a 2 score game. If they had taken the 1 then, they would have tied the game up with the TD right at the end and had a kick for the win. Going for 2 at the end is not terrible but they wouldn't have needed to if they had taken 1 earlier. Only reason I can figure of going for 2 in the 2nd quater is if the Kicker was injured.

Great wins for the Colts & Giants.

Arazona should be too strong tonight however with the 49ers comming off a by week with a new QB anything could happen, one thing is highly likely: The 49ers should turn the ball over less without O'Sullivan at QB.

They didn't go for two. They went to kick but the snap was low and the kicker had no chance. The holder picked up, ran for a second and attempted a "pass". It went about a yard before being knocked down by D lineman

Now it makes sense, this is what it says on Nfl.com which was where i was following the game, from my reading it seemed like they set up for a kick faked it but the D read it:
"(Kick formation) TWO-POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPT. 2-D.Colquitt pass to 87-B.Cottam is incomplete. ATTEMPT FAILS."

    Thanks for that

Yup for stat reasons once there is a bad snap and the holder gets to his feet it then becomes an attempt for 2 but yup twas a piss poor field goal attempt.

Smart money is to put money on the Cardinals As a Niners fan I don't expect much for the remaining eight games of the season except to see the team hopefully head in the right direction that was obviously absent when Mike Nowin was in charge. If the O-line actually shows up and the Defense get off the field we have a small chance but it could be a long old night otherwhise

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

Go Jints! I just watched the game after spending the day avoiding any mention of the result. It was a real fight to the death division game, much more entertaining than the Dallas game. Earth, Wind and Fire were the main difference in this game I think as the Giants D pretty much neutralised Westbrook. Bring on Baltimore.

I also had a nice accumulator with TEN, MIA, MIN and NE. I was sweating out the MIN result but they got it in the end.

I will be coasting to a win with one of my fantasy teams after big points from Brees, Jacobs and Winslow. I'll also get a good few points from the Cardinals D. Even though I didn't start him, Tyler Thigpen was a nice pickup on my other team. I think I'll be starting him next week.

well thats what im askin really, the only decent odds are with the cardinals -9.5 points and for some reason i think its a bit of a big ask for them, its a divisional game so the 49ers are not gonna just roll over surely, and ilike the new coach, i especially liked his attitude to me me me players...........might save the money for another day

Actually gutted by last night. Din't stay up but recorded it on Sky + just a quick roundup of my thoughts

: Was confused as hell about our last snap surely a naked bootleg rather then Robinson up the middle would have sufficed especially since our short yardage stiuation has been terrible this yeasr but then Martz is supossedly an offensive guru:rolleyes:...

: Run Defense stepped it up a notch although the pass Defense was still woful. Boldin and Breaston seemed to get open loads of times and it still is something to be worked on.

: Great game by Zeigler and Hill seemingly the only good move nolan made.

    Highlights:
O line gave up no sacks
Jason Hill - 7 catches on the game, great hands
    Josh Morgan - Great TD
Shaun Hill - (Concentrating on the good) Some great passing at times, good pocket awareness, one awesome run where he needed 11, got 9, helmet was yanked off, kept balance, went head first for the next 3 yards for a 1st Down!
Vernon Davis - What a Catch for the TD (leave your helmet on next time though !!!)
    Rachal got game time
We didn't get blown out, nor did we embarrass ourselves on National TV.
Justin Smith - impressive display once again.

    Lowlights:
O line went to pieces during some running plays and quick drops by Hill
Walt Harris - with no pass rush this guy looks absolutely done.
Our defence on 3rd and long - I don't even want to talk about it
The secondary, Fitz and Boldin are probably the best WR combo out there, but we made Breaston look like he was in their class too.
No major and consistent pass rush, we had some, but the secondary struggle when we don't get any.
The Officials were nothing short of abysmal for the whole game, wasn't just on us but on both teams, some really awful decisions made and flags thrown for various non penalties.

Well, the Packers' O-Line has let us down again. The playoffs has shifted out of our hands for the moment.

I'd like to take this opportunity to shower Adrian Peterson with praise. What a star this fella is already and think about what he could become?
