Keeping the Fox Happy....and the Rats Away.

I've a fox that visits my garden regularly. I'd like to keep him fed, but the sort of food he'd like would also encourage rats.

Should I feed him/her or leave the fox to it's own devices?

    Any suggestions.

Apologies for run_to_da_hills' usual smart alec answer.

It is always a worry when leaving food out that rats will be attracted. If you know the fox is around at a certain time then leave the food out shortly before and remove it sometime later if it's not eaten. I wouldn't just dump food in the garden in the hope the fox will take it at some time during the night. If you can't be specific about feeding times then don't leave food out. The fox is there because it obviously has found the area agreeable so it may do perfectly well without your feeding it.
