oh yea it makes a huge difference

generally, most LCD monitors are sooo bright when they come from the factory

waaaay to bright for photo editing

The master of the horses - Borderfox - lent me his Spyder. The difference was HUGE.
I only hope that it'll last some time.

how do they work - manual adjustment or do they alter colour profiles within the operating system graphics drivers? most laptops which i've come into contact with just have a brightness control without contrast or colour adjustments.

Where would you get one of these? Do you only need to calibrate the screen once?

Something I need to do with my laptop. My internet connection is broken at the moment so having to do what the common people do & get my fix at an internet cafe... I'll mention spyder2 to them too I think! :D

Sounds like an outstanding plan. And cost effective :)

Was thinking about calibration for a while as my print vs monitor is vastly different. After playing with PP yesterday, I'm now seriously thinking about it.

I now know what to say when the missus says "What do you want for Christmas?" - my usual answer is "uh dunno" :)

This has been superceded by the Spyder 3 - there's a pro version for photographers or, for 50 euro more, theres an elite version with much more functionality.

i got mine off kerso on ebay, around €80,i think the better the monitor you have the better it works,i could only adjust the rgb on my monitor, tricky to get it right but once i did the spider finished the calibration off and it looks super now
