I know, what a stupid excuse for a thread, BUT

I have a nice pair of sennheiser hd 280 pro's but the moulded plug is giving trouble, the right side comes and goes. those of you who saw my moniter thread will know that i'm not gonna be getting decent monitors anytime soon, so if i'm gonna be using thesde headphones i want them working.

does anyone know of anywhere online or not that does good replacement plugs? i'll probably be soldering them myself, and i can solder, but the fineness of wire you come to expect with headphones might test my less than perfect soldering skills.

any replacement plug i usually come across in shops are for thick cable, so i need something smaller, and something that will last.

Can you get a replacement cable from Sennheiser?
Maplin do all sorts of Jack Plugs and soldering kits! Or here

Headphone cable is really fine and I wouldn't fancy your chances. Cut off a bit and do a few practice runs first.

thanks, i did a bit of searching, and even though it looked like you couldnt replace the cable, in fact you can, without having to solder. so i'll give sennheiser a buzz ans see if i can get one.

If you can't find a replacement cable it is not too difficult to solder on a new connector. I've done it to a few HD280 Pro headphones in the studio because the 1/4" adapters kept disappearing... I strongly recommend getting a Neutrik connector if you go down that route.
