Force Field research

    Saw this on the news, some scientists in England have discovered how to deflect solar radiation using a magnetic force field. Could be used for a future mars mission, it would be much cooler and more efficient than using tonnes of water to perform the same function.

    This is hardly a discovery. The Earth's magnetic field does exactly this for the entire planet. Do you have a link?

    No. Thats kinda what I thought, but still it would be cool in a way for the captain to say "bring up the shields to full power."
