no sound device on my dell dimension 4700

please help me? i been trying 2 find someone 2 help me whit this problem, i have downloaded the correct driver according to my model at www.dell.com and it doesnt work. it doesnt apear in control panel either nd i dont know what else can i do. even if it apears in control panel when i check sound device it saids no sound device. i have a dell dimension model 4700 windows xp im not sure what service pack is it but can anybody help?

you may need to download and install a patch from microsoft first. read more on it here:

let us know if this works. you will most likely need to install the dell driver after this patch is installed....
