Just seen in the TV guide that Father Ted is on BBC2 Saturday night at 10. I really don't understand this? A programme made by Channel 4 on BBC2. Surely it must be a mistake.

It's a night in tribute to BBC producer Geoffrey Perkins who died of a car accident in August. He worked on a few episodes of Father Ted including the episode which will be shown as well as the Catherine Tate show and The Fast Show which are also on the same night.

It's a really great gesture on the part of Channel 4 to allow the episode to be shown. They've gone up in my estimation for that.

I really hope they don't screw with this,
I mena I don't want father Dougal having a cockney accent or even worse been portrayed my a cunt in a suit and fancy new runners i.e Patrick Kielty etc.

It's not unheard of for shows to swap channels. BBC4 shows the Avengers (with Diana Rigg in her prime:D) on Friday nights, and this was originally a Lew Grade Production on ITV.

AS long as money changes hands there usually isnt a problem

I seem to remember RTE showing Father Ted as well even though they didn't create it.

(And if anyone says they were offered it and turned it down I will smack them - they were never offered it. That's just an urban myth.)

But you see RTÉ is broadcast from a completely seperate country to Channel 4 so their broadcasting of Channel 4 programming wont be that odd.

I know he worked on the radio series rather than the tv series, but it would have been nice to have an episode of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy shown as he was so closely associated with the first series.
