Hi i am getting married abroad next year :D and just got a quote off the country house we will be using for the reception from my planner . It is charging us a certain amount for the menu but i am also being quoted for rental of cutlery, plates, chairs, tablecloths basically everything that you would normally get included in you price per head. Am i the wrong for feeling ripped off by this or is standard practise to charge extra for the nessecitys you need it's €50 per head for the meal put €125 per head  when you add on the rental of the other stuff. Please let me know if you've heard of this before.

hm, I guess it depends on where you are getting married...
have you shopped around a bit, got quotes from other places?

We pay roughly 60 Euros per head for everything - food and an open bar all night. I've never heard of being charged extra for cutlery and stuff (well, apart from in ireland where they charge for chair covers etc...)

Are they renting the extras in for you or is their own?? I would question it and ask why they are charging rental when they already have it and other locations don't do it

If the house does not normally do weddings then they would have to hire in all that stuff. If they do its a complete rip off. 125 per head seems steep as well. Thats Michelin star prices. Would want Gordon Ramsay himself doing the beef.

I am getting married in Majorca and i think they will be getting a catering company in. I'm not sure cos my wedding planner is ignoring me at the minute over this. I think it's a rip off even if it is for a catering company i wouldn't pay that here in Ireland per head for the meal thats why i chose getting married abroad but it is starting to be more hassle than it's worth. Everyone told me that i was mad to get married abroad but i'm so stubborn i won't give anyone the satisfaction of being right! I'll just have to keep looking or get a new planner as much as i would hate to have to start all over again i've been looking at venues since May!
