Transferring large files to PS3? Help.

    A bit of a conundrum.

I have some 8 - 10 gig hi def MP4 files I'd like to transfer onto my PS3. Plan was to use my 80 gig external hard drive for the purpose. First problem was formatting it to FAT32, but that was worked out so now the PS3 can see the drive.

Now I can't put the files onto the drive because FAT32 has a file size limit of 4GB, GAH!

No doubt there's something simple I'm not thinking of.

Not really no. There is no way to get files bigger than FAT32 max size onto PS3 unless you stream your files.

WHat I do for HD mkv files is to convert to VOB and split into max FAT32 size chunks. Works fine.

Another option which is very popular with the boardsies here is to use a program called tversity. Assuming you have a PC, it streams from that to the PS3, it's what most folkd around here do.

Yeah, I was trying out Tversity last night and had no problem streaming .avi files but when I tried any of the MP4s I got "unsupported file type" errors. The MP4s in question were taken from the "Console ready" section of a site.

I'll run them through Gspot later and see if I can find any more details that might pinpoint the problem.
