    Lads,
    I've a friend who's looking for a standard AK-47 with wooden furniture.

In terms of reliability, performance, value for money what would you recommend? Budget is tight but will stretch for something good.

    Thanks for the info lads.
At the mo he specifically wants an AK-47 as it's what he did national service with. He'd also prefer fixed stock rather than folding.

Actually this is probably what he'd be interested in, anyone have one or know anything about them. I've heard G&G are top notch, is this the case?

    couple of options for you

'JG' - Jing Gong full-metal and real wood AK47
    http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=3083

'Cyma' AK47 with metal body and real wood furnitures
    http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=2359

have not heard much about the jg, heard good things from other people about the cyma, there going to need downgrading if your getting theme directly yourself or talk to your local irish retailor see if they can get one in

Edit: any other option is the army ak47 no experiance with it myself by heard it mention a few times by used on boards

Yeah the G&G AK47 is class like all G&G AEGs. It even has a fake gas piston and recoil spring modeled inside the hand guard, its all real wood and metal. It's not as heavy as the real deal but very close.

It is more expensive than most other AK47s out there but you really get what you pay for, top construction quality as accurate to the real deal as any AK47 on the market (VFC AK74s may be close) and great reliability.

If your mates not mad pushed on wood furniture he could always get an Army Ak47, i quite like mine, they just need a bit of a cleaning and tightening and all is well. Other than that i do like Cyma Ak's if wood is necessary.

if your looking for the closest to real life with no budget it has to be Real Sword

Yeah I mentioned that but they'd be over budget. Even the G&G is probably stretching it.

    Thanks for the recommendations lads.

    I had a plastic cyma ak47.

Sprayed the receiver matt black and varnished the plastic "wood" handguard.

It looked great, more realistic than any of the stock clone ak's.

If you get a cheap one, a simple matt black spray from a motor factors and a bit of 400 grit sand paper and you'll have a great looking ak47.

I bought the G&G AK47 last December. Its a very realistic gun but It clapped out after 5 months with very little use. I think the gear or motor mechanism is jammed. The auto selector lever became loose and eventually gave way so that it now turns a full 360 and stuck on auto. Hop up adjustment never worked as the BBs just curved downward regardless.
