    There is an obvious problem with this idea, which is that an innocent person could decide to plead guilty to avoid the risk of imprisonment. It would also seem likely to be the sort of person who would not usually find themselves in trouble who might consider such a thing since they would be more likely to have a stronger fear of prison: Aside from social factors, imprisonment would have a stronger impact on someone with a career and/or a family. What are other people's thoughts on this?

    Well look at the flip, if a person has no previous the chances of him/her getting imprisonment on a summary charge is almost nill,

    at the end of the day it's the State that has to prove everything (almost) so unless evidence is fabricated an innocent man shouldnt fear pleading not guilty.
