    Hi,

I'm looking to buy an LCD/Plasma tv as a gift for the folks for christmas. They would use it to watch digial tv and normal dvds. They dont have a hd/blue ray player at the moment but may get one in the future. So you might say that the quality of the HD isnt all that important for this purchase.

My budget is 600 euro and ideally I'd like to get as big a tv as possible. Would it be possible to get a 37inch for this price or would I have to settle for a 32 inch ? I quite like the look of the Samsungs...

If someone could point me in the right direction it would be muchly appreciated!

You'd doing well to get decent brand 37" lcd for under 600e in the shops. Are you willing to buy online??

If so, this would be my choice at 32 inches. Its hd ready rather than fullhd but that doesnt seem important to you anyway. You've probably seen richersounds comercial interaction forum.Delivery for boardsies is just 20£.It comes to under 490e delivered. I imagine this particular tv would be in fairly hight demand so it may take them a while to get this one for you. They should be able to get it to you before Christmas though.

In terms of getting a bigger size, i cant find a site that delivers a 37" samsung to ireland for under 600e. This might be of interest to you, though. Its hd ready again, and a toshiba this time. comes in at about 525e delivered. Cant imagine there being a problem gettin this one.

If, however, you dont mind at all about brand name, this could do the job. Not sure about delivery but it shouldnt be too much.

Thanks for the help. Buying online is definitely an option.

This one seems very cheap considering its 37 inch. 442 + delivery!

[edit] - delivery is 62 euro which brings it just over 500. I think Id rather spend the extra 25 euro an get the Toshiba in that case.

I'd think you would be able to go as high as a 42" now. There are a lot of great deals out there, especially with the holidays coming up. Just keep a look out online. I've actually been working with Warner Home Video on some blu-ray projects and I'd totally recommend taking the plunge and buying an HDTV.
