I am looking for simple DS games like arcade shinobi, splatterhouse, streetfighter 2, r-type. Ones with only a few buttons to use and very quick learning curve :o

I got bubble bobble, new zealand story, konami arcade colletion, namco museum, tetris and would like a few more along those lines. A shinobi type game would be ideal, anything like 80's arcade games really. Most fighting games seem to try and show off 3D (and fail IMO) , I also never liked all these complicated 3D PSone fighting games with endless combos etc.

    Any recommendations?

    Yup...

Legend of Kage 2 (like Shinobi on speed, but tough as nails)
Any of the Castlevania games (Dawn of Sorrow, Portait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia)
Spiderman Web of Shadows (tough enough and it does have combos, but its a fun platformer)
N+ (Brilliant little platformer with hundreds of levels and just one button - jump!)
    Contra 4
    Nanostray (horizontal/vertical shooter)

    Ninja 5-0 (GBA game)

Ninja 5-0 for the GBA if you can find it is bloody fantastic. It's the best Shinobi type game in a long while.

Can't recommend the DS and GBA Castlevania games enough along with the GBA Metroid games.

Contra 4 is awesome. It's tough but no tougher than the 16-bit classics of old, so ignore the ignorant reviews that complain about the difficulty.

Cheers guys. Contra 4 was on my list alright, heard good things.

Will have a look at all the others too.

Hi Bolgey... I don't think it got a euro release. Poncey european gamers need their quick saves and 6,000 checkpoints per level. :)

Seriously, try importing it. It came out about this time last year in the States.

Its up on Play Asia, for example, for about €19 euro, and their postage is cheap.

    Quick question on this.

Do all US and Jap games play on Euro DS?

If you have a flash card (r4, dstt etc) you can get pretty decent emulators for your DS. So instead of playing games like the ones on your list you could be actually playing them!
