I am sure many people have found themselves in this position. I have been searching for a job for the last 5 months. And have gotten so many letters that tell me to please F*ck off (that * is an e but i wasnt to sure if we can say that). I have lost all hope now and I have loans that i am killing my self to pay and have no way to clear them. I have applied for shop and cleaning jobs and they sent me letters saying PFO.

Does any one know what will happen if loans cant get paid obiviously I am going to get black listed! But i am only 23 i was trying to get a house but then my boss broke the news that my job will be gone by xmas. He has knocked it down to part time hours but not really covering the bills and I applied for job seekers benefit but I am still waiting (since July).

Now I have heard this is only heard!! that some one who lives near me has lost their job and is up to their eyes. and he has gone in to bank ruptcy.

I am really on the verge of cracking up. I am terrified now because there are things going on in my life that this whole thing will have an effect on.

Any words on wisdom would be great.

    Ta!

Send me your CV and cover letter to <snip> and I will have a look at them. It's possible there is something horrendous on them which you've missed. :)

If you can't pay your loans (even miss a single payment) you will get a poor credit rating which stays on your record for either 5 or 7 years (can't remember which one.) Basically this means it will become very difficult to get a "normal" mortage.

I am nearly certain we don't have bankruptcy laws in Ireland like the UK or US.

Where in Ireland do you live?

With some loans there is protection against this sort of thing. You pay extra, but it covers your payments if you're out of work/ill.

First of all, check if you have this. Chances are you would know if you have, but theres no harm in checking.

Go down to the social welfare office. You shouldnt be waiting that long on jobseekers, if you are, the chances are they are waiting for documentation off you. Either way, get on their backs about it.

Also, if you havent already done so, call the tax office and request p21 balancing statements for every year you have worked (They are a yr behind remember, so you wont get 2008's until jan/fab 09) My boyfriend did that and was amazed when a cheque came in the post for 2,500€.

But apart from that, you've got to keep trying Im afraid.

I know its not particularly fair to teachers (Im one myself) but did you do particularly well in maths/biology in school? Consider advertising grinds.

Get on to the people you owe loans to, they can freeze them for a bit. Definately give mabs a buzz, these people will sort some of it for you ie ring them etc ...
Also get on to your Local Social welfare office the longest you should be waiting is 6weeks!

Credit rating is up to date for 5 years. Missing one payment is not the end of the world. I've done that and didn't get my credit rating affected.
But miss 3 payments and the loan is in default and you're fecked.
So you need to talk to the bank if you are having trouble.

Aarrrgh is correct, this isn't the UK or USA. You can't just declare bankruptcy and make your problems go away.
