Ok guys here's the story. Wheels stolen from my beloved 2003 Specialized Hardrock Sport over the weekend. I'm lost without it. Anyway to replace 'em will cost upwards of E240 if I wanna set of equivalent quality wheels, tyres, cassette and chain. I've heard of decent secondhand bikes selling for similar money so my question is where could I get one FAST!

If you really like your Specialized that much just get the wheels. You might get a second hand mtb for 240 but it won't be any better than what you've got.

I dont know if this will help but theres a Garda auction this coming Saturday being run by Merlin Car Auctions on behalf of An Garda Síochána. It starts at 2pm.

The auction rooms are at the M7 Motor Park, Junction 10, Naas Road

Anyone ever go to these? Am thinking of getting some Xmas pressies if theres anything decent ;-)

I've heard the majority of the bikes there are crap (I'd say some gardai might have the same idea as yourself re xmas pressies;))

If you have disc brakes, I have a set of mavic 223 wheels lying in the attic. You can have them for 65 euro if you want. They are off my 2004 Specialized stumpjumper comp HT. (Replaced when a set of XT rims came along cheap). They have about 9 months of use on them, but are in excellent nick. See pics attached. Just 2 points to note. The rear doesnt have the cassette as it was transfered onto my new wheel, also we'd need to check that the disc is compatible with the caliper on your bike (wheels came from 2004 my bike with Shimano Deore brakes).

Im in north Dublin if interested. I can throw in my old set of Schwalbe racing ralph tires as well if I can dig them out. They are well worn, but theres still a few weeks still left on them as far as I can remember.

A cassette and chain would probably set you back 60-70 quid including fitting.

Unfortunately I don't have discs on what remains of my Hardrock. I'd have snapped your hand off otherwise! Appreciate the offer though.
I'll go along to the Garda auction but the I've a feeling that the cops will have helped themselves to the choicest bits. Anyway anyone with a decent set of wheels/tyres/cassette/chain etc for sale or even better a QUALITY bike at a reasonable price please contact me ASAP.

I've a Wolber front that would do the job. Nice wheel bit old but would do the job fine. We could do a swap, I'm looking for a few odds and ends, pannier rack, possibly a trigger shifter or some V-brakes.

My son has a Gary Fisher Mako, only one month old and little used that's a bit big in the frame for him (19.5").

PM me if you're still looking and want to know more.
