    Hi,
I bought a package called Snap Music in Maplin last week, and am ATTEMPTING (badly) to run it on a Mac. Ive been assured it works and that you have to run it through Garage Band on the Mac. Im using it to record from a pioneer DJM-400 mixer. When i insert the disc, it wont install on the Mac, though it will on my mates Dell. Alternatively, if someone could explain to me how to use Audacity it would be m,most appreciated.

    Thanks!

Go into System Preferences and check whether the device is showing up in your Sounds panel as an input. If it is, switch to that and you should be sorted. The disc is probably just a driver that isn't required for Mac.
Once it's being recognised as an input source, Garageband will be able to record from it.

"check whether the device is showing up in your Sounds panel as an input"

How do i do that? I can play the decks fine, but am a complete novice when it comes to computers! Bsically, i plug the red/white leads from my mixer to a small box (the snap music thing) anf from that i lug a USB to my laptop. The blue light on the box comes on. According to the instructions, i then put the Snap Music CD in. I do that and the CD comes up on the main screen, but there is no link to install it.....this is where im confused. Ive tried recording before and it works, but i hear ALL the noises in the room, not just the music which is a pain in the ass! I have Audacity set up on my computer, and will happily use that to record. I thought it was a case of setting up these leads (as above) going to Audacity and recording - nothing is ever as easy as it seems!

Is there an application to drag into the application folder?

If its a Mac laptop.. try plugging it into a different usb port.

They sometimes suffer from lack of power. Look it up on the net.. "issues with Macbook / Macbookpro etc.. usb with Snap music etc.. "

Firewire is a better way to go longterm.

It might "work" with osx in theory.. but reality is different.

Something to try if all else fails.

    Completely different operating system.

Unless there's a mac version, it wont run.

    Use GarageBand anyway.

Do you have a proper sound-card?

If it runs with Mac it should say so on the Manual/Box/PDF/CD.
