in a rare stroke of genius i have convinced my girlfriend to go halves with me on a wii, on the condition we bought wii fit (which actually isnt that bad)

so, its now sitting alongside my ps3 but i have no games for it.

what are the absolute musts at the moment for the wii?

are there any decent 3rd party alternative controllers, the wii motes seem very expensive with nunchucks.

what are the best 2 player games that the missus might enjoy?

    thanks folks

There are some pretty clear cut leaders in the game market atm.

2 or more player Mario Cart Wii and Smash Bros

Single player, Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Zelda, No More Heroes. The Resident Evil games are supposed to be pretty good too.

As far as I know there is no third party remotes/chucks available.

I wouldn't bother with one player games there all useless.

    Mario cart is a must.

Bit of a generalisation there especailly with the single player games already mentioned being top quality.

For single player games also add De Blob and Boom Blox which also both have excellent multiplayer modes. If you like footies games then the wii version of pro evo is excellent, better than the PS3 and 360 version other than in online multiplayer.

If your GF is not a "gamer" then try Boom Blox. Its good fun and had myself and the other half calling each other names and swiping at each other :D There is a co-op mode aswell as competitive mode and its a fairly easy going game that any non gamer can enjoy.

if you like zelda games then the Wii Zelda is an absolute must.
The res evil games are good on the wii - immense satisfaction from shooting zombies with wiimote.
