    Hi,

Just looking for help with an error that comes up every time I start my pc. I had nasty viruses a while ago. Ever since, every time I start my PC up the computer stalls for up to 5 minutes until the following error pops up - "C:\windows\system32\nvpyhbyn.dll"

i've tried googling and can't get a match. Has anybody got an idea as to what it might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You sure that's spelt right (nvpyhbyn.dll)?

Only suggestion I can make at this stage is try Windows in Safe Mode and see if it will boot. Then browse to that file and look at the properties of it and see who the writer is. If it's a recognised one remove the software from the writer and try again.

It start with 'nv' which may suggest nVidia - but no sign of the file in google which means probably not.

what exactly is the error. Does it say that the file is missing?

Looks like the random-letter filename you'd expect from a virus. Maybe there is a reference to it in the registry, and since your antivirus may have removed the file, Windows now thinks there is a problem becuase the file isn't there.

Check your antivirus logs to see if it removed a file with the same name. If it has, and this is the problem, a registry cleaner program might sort it out; I don't know any to recommend though, I usually go through it myself if I have a similar problem, or restore a ghosted image if I'm not confident the antivirus or spyware programs have sorted it out fully.
