hi, fellow (ex)-smokers, not llokin to blow my own horn or anything but today is a very special day....six weeks off!

so please, a bit of praise would be awesome-none of my mates or family smoke, so they don't appreciate what I've done...

i also wanna say thanks to those who helped me, and if anyone needs advice on how to quit cold turkey, just ask...

dont be givin any more of your hard earned moolah to the marlboro man!

Well done, definitely over the worst part.

Now a word of warning, you're never really out of the woods. Not that it remains as difficult to refrain from smoking on an ongoing basis, but it is easy to slip back into it by taking a few drags here and there, or getting langers and having one or two. I'm in my mid thirties, 10 years ago loads/most of my friends and I smoked, 7 years ago most had given up, now many are back on a couple here and there.

The thing that worked for me is that I decided that I will never ever smoke again, so the length of time I had been a recovering smoker or non-smoker becomes irrelevent. Not sure that'll help anyone else, but it certainly helps me from having the odd one, and then slipping back into being a smoker.

well, i do get the odd craving, but they're few and far between at this stage...ive also noticed far more success with the ladies since giving up!

the reason i think this quit was successful is because i genuinly believed i was finished for good...not like the other times when i didnt have that self belief.

funny that i didnt have the withdrawal this time like i did the last times...this is why i think alot of the withdrawal symptoms are mental...

let me explain-i didnt eat alot more, didnt have sleepless nights, didnt get ratty...i believe this to be because THIS time i was actually gonna do it for realsies!

of course, im only six weeks in-im not out of the woods and never will be...i know im gonna have to deal with cravings probably for the rest of my life...like that guy above me said hes got mates off for 10 yrs that are giving in!

and finally, well done to all, especially dubgirl15 who gave up around the same time i did...anywho, cheers for the support-its sad i have to go to the internet to get it though!nobody appreciates it in real life!
