    1983 in America (mini series only, not The Final Battle). 1984 for UK+Ireland (ITV ran it vs the Los Angeles Olympics). RTE first screened it in 1985.

    My mam wouldnt let me watch it so every time she left the room id put in on and when i heard her footsteps id have to change the channel, remember the scene with the eating of the mouse or was it a rat? class

    It seemed a lot tamer when I saw an episode recently but like some of the other posters, I use to have to hide behind the couch when it was on when I was younger, scary stuff back then!

    Younger boardsies may be wondering what we're talking about but it's hard to underestimate how popular it was at the time. Everyone watched it.
    It was the 24, Prison Break and Lost of it's time all rolled into one.
