iMac screen -instant off?

So yesterday I almost got caught looking at a boobylady.

    Anybody know?-
What is the best way to instantly turn off an iMac screen?

Is there some sort of free app that will lock the screen off for a certain time or until a certain key is pressed?

Showing the desktop isn't much use, as all it takes is one javascript popup, application notice or msn/yahoo IM and your cover is blown.

This is obviously a very serious issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. ;)

    TIA:pac:

Control-shift-eject will turn the display off but moving the mouse will turn it back on. Or you could use System Prefs > Expose to set a certain button or screen corner to activate a password protected screensaver.

But if you have Leopard, Spaces is ideal for keeping certain activities off to one side.

    Thanks for the tips man.
    CTRL **** EJECT is great.
I have Leopard but never use Spaces. I'll look into that too.

    Happy, eh, surfing. :)

hehe, did you miss the f? :D

I'd really recommend making full use of Expose and Spaces, really great features, both of them. You can a set a certain app to always open in a particular "space". Very useful for keeping your screen tidy.

    indeed - exceptionally useful!!

set your preferred key combination for switching spaces and you're all set to continue looking at boobyladies in the knowledge that it's* only a keystroke away.

don't forget to use private browsing in Safari!

    * = whatever you want it to mean

    I use CMD+H myself.

    Spaces helps though.
