    Hi,

Could anybody advise me where I could get help for depression? It's something I've had for years but starting to get better of me. I think it's only a matter of time 'til I break down at this rate.

    I would appreciate it, thanks!

First place I'd go would be the stickies at the top. They have some good resources. If you're in college then you would have the option of a campus counselor too. First obvious port of call might be your GP who can then refer you to someone.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Your GP will be able to give you the best advice on beating this problem. Sit down and talk to him/her and deiced what the best course of action will be for you. Wether it be medication, counselling or a combination of both. Also dont be embarrased to talk to family and friends about how you have been feeling, some-times that can be the best medicine.

Def straight to your GP, he/she will know exactly what to do.

I have a friend who is bi-polar, and once this first step was taken, it was all up from there. Don't be afraid to confide in friends either, good friends support, they don't judge :) best of luck.

I have suffered from clinical depressions for over 11 years! Get to your GP. s/he will do a test to see what symptoms you have. If you have suffered for a while it may well be clinical (i.e a serotonin imbalance) and no amount of counselling will sort that. If your GP prescribes pills expect to be on them for at least 12 months.

    The key points here are:
1/ Do NOT delay seeking help!
2/ There is light at the end of the tunnel even if it is clinical. I am now on one third of the meds I was and will be coming off them next year.
3/ Don't beat yourself up over it and tell anyone who tells you to cheer up or sort yourself out to feck off as the are ignorant fools.
