    Hi all.
Just wondering if you can change a left hand guitar to a right hand guitar.
If so what would i need?

Jimi would be proud son. A pack of strings.

You will need to take the top straplock off and replace it down on a more suitable place obviously. When you re-string the guitar, the bridge saddles will have to adjusted properly, for tuning reasons.

It would depend on what model you are converting. Les Paul's look shocking upsidedown. But the old Strat looks legendary that way. I've often thought of buying a lefty Strat and turning her upside down for my right handed ways.

    So it can be done?
My 15 year old daughter is after one for chrismas, this would be her first guitar so didn't want to spend a fortune on a good one in case she lost interest but we got an offer for an electric left hand one for 50 euro from my nephew... he got it last year for christmas but never got into it.
His mam and dad payed a fortune for it,
Don't know the make and model of it right now.

It can be done but I wouldn't recommend it for a first guitar. There's a lot of work to do to make it a righty.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think waltons in town would be the best place to buy an acoustic guitar?
Looking for a good but cheap one. Can you recommend any?

The answer is, it can be done. Some guitars would be easier than others though. I can't see any reason why you couldn't do it. I don't believe there is too much work involved. If you get the guitar for 50 sheets, then it's not much of a gamble. There are some beginners guitars available that would be ready to go, but if it's a good guitar going for next to nothing, it might be worth a look.

Get a pic of it posted up here and then we could give you a more detailed answer.

To get the work done would cost more than a beginners guitar so it's not really the best option.

Waltons would be alright but all the guitar shops are in the same area. Check out upstairs in Music Maker on Excheuqer St.

You'd be better off getting a proper right-handed guitar. Put the lefty up for sale and if it really is a decent one, then that'll fund the new guitar.

If it's a great guitar worth €400 or so, it would be worth buying, if you can get it for €50.......

It cost damn all to change it over. If not, then sell the thing.
