    Hi,

Over in Connemara next weekend. The person I am going with said they'd like to go for walk but 'something easy' as they've not done hillwalking before.

If anyone has any suggestions for a handy walk in the area, it'd be appreciated.

    Paul.

You could start from the entrance to the Connemara national park in Letterfrack. There is a signposted walk that starts from there, it's a fairly easy walk that does a loop and only a small bit of height gain to the top of a hill where you get fantastic views if the day is good. The track is well built and should't be affected too much by rain. I can't remember but it might be a couple of hours in total if you go the whole way around.

Diamond hill as mentioned above is nice, and very straight forward, with good views.

If your friend doesn't want to do any climbing at all, you can do the old famine path to Killary harbour, you park in an old quarry on the main road, near lennane, and it's a simple out and back.

    Other, options are:

Omey Island, nice tidal island, just make sure of the tides, but interesting, it's near Cleggan, other more challenging (but still easy), are Tully mountain, near Rynvele House, and Roundstone Mountain, beside the village
